This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for May 12.

A BRANT was at Quail Lake near Gorman on May 7.

Two GREATER SCAUP were on the reservoir at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas on May 7, with one still present on May 11. A RED-BREASTED MERGANSER was present there on May 8.

One INCA DOVE continued at Col. Leon H. Washington Park in Los Angeles through May 11. It was last reported near the intersection of 90th and Maie Ave.

A RUFF was on the beach on the east side of Pt. Dume on May 6 (to reach the spot, walk the stairs from the point down to the beach).

Lake Balboa in Van Nuys had a late GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL from May 5-7.

Two YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were at El Dorado Park in Long Beach through May 11. They have most often been seen east of Snake Road in Area 2 and also at the Nature Center pond south of Spring Street.

Another YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was at the Ballona Salt Pan (Playa del Rey on the south/east side of Ballona Creek) on May 6.

A PLUMBEOUS VIREO was at Bixby Marshland in Carson on May 6.

Zuma Canyon in Malibu held a male HOODED WARBLER on May 6. It was in a sycamore north of the parking area at the end of Bonsall Drive.

A PALM WARBLER was at Madrona Marsh in Torrance through May 9. The last given location was on the west side of the main entrance road near the sump. On May 6 a male INDIGO BUNTING was near the berm. Preserve hours are 10-5 Tuesday through Sunday.
